Heavily armed men believed to be
militants on Saturday invaded a police station,
overpowered the policemen
on duty, and carted away arms and ammunition in Amassoma, Southern Ijaw
Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The hoodlums also tried to raid United
Bank for Africa (UBA) branch in the same area, but failed.
They then carted away the bank’s
Automated Teller Machine (ATM), which is believed to have a good amount of
money in it.
It was gathered that the gang of
militants stormed the community which also hosts the state-owned Niger
